- "Set ablaze" Our excursion at Cadillac mountain, Acadia National Park had the best sunset we've had since coming to the park. After wandering around the main area for a while looking for possible compositions, I saw our instructor and he told me to head down the road about a third of a mile from where we are for a better view of the setting sun. I hurriedly followed his directions and arrived at Blue Hill Overlook where the view was stunning and there were only a small number of people compared to the main summit area. #photography #landscape #landscapephotography #travel #maine #acadia #fujifilm #seeourworldnow #disearth #loveisouttherecontest

- It's chilly this morning. I huddled under my blankets a little longer as I cracked open an eye. I hear the scamper of the rats that run on my rooftop overhead and realize I don't care, as long as they stay where they are. I have a king sized bed and despite the mattress being made of wood, it's nice to have space, though I only sleep on the one side.... I feel around the bed searching for my phone and then laugh out loud... ahhhh ....this... . I'll be the first to admit it. No, I'm not a cynic and no, I'm not anti-marriage or relationships contrary to my long term single life. I have a profound respect for people who can walk through this life solo, it's a level of understanding of the self that really is remarkable... but yes, admittedly I'm ready. I think I knew this some time ago but it wasn't until a discussion with a 69 year old friend outside of our silent hours in the Monestary back in October that had me saying it aloud. He was gently persistent as he asked me about my last relationships... to which I had no reply, only that I hadn't let anything get that far in several years, he smiles kindly, told me how it had taken him nearly 40 years after a divorce to understand that when the heart is ready, to just go with it. That protecting his heart resulted in him losing many people, including the one he loved. He spends his time solo now, as a Buddhist layperson traveling and in meditations and caring for others. . I'm stubborn and there's a great amount of logic that weighs these things as if I can tie logic to emotion 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I understand all the words he spoke to me... and this morning as I felt around my giant empty bed and found my phone I laughed thinking of his words to me. . I have some friends close to my heart, and know so many of us out there are protecting our hearts... my wish for you is that when you feel ready you recognize it, and like my friend Joitko says, 'feel it, really everywhere' . Cheers to love my friends . #Nepal #namaste #mountains #trekking #climbing #hiking #solo #travel #asia #lake #relationshipgoals #water #happiness #photography #photooftheday #friends #LoveIsOutThereContest #universe #family #heart #humanity

- Pop over to the blog <link in bio> for this🙌🏻 day 💓💓💓 . It was humid today, or maybe I was a little nervous about heading into unchartered territory at school today. Either way, by the time I walked in, my semi wavy hair had turned into its wild kinky self and the heat added the usual puffiness to my cheeks. I knew I needed water but the thremos full of masala tea was honestly way better; I would later regret this decision as I would end up teaching 5 grades back to back and dreading using the squat toilets in a school- you feeling me?
. As usual, Nepal has a way of greeting newcomers that you make you feel like an unusual, but special magical creature. The teaching staff, and the students beamed Namaste’s and bowing with smiles that melted me. The first class I taught was 8th grade english. Normally this awkward age makes me awkward, (let’s not get into my already naturally nerdy demeanour) but these kids were amazing. After introductions, I fell into teaching, explaining big concepts as simply as possible . Their topic? Why is News important? This could have been a fixed topic of discussion given my journalism background, but let’s just call it a happy coincidence. I ask questions, we have simple debates in my broken Nepali, my adjusted english, their simple English and my inflections which they burst into fits of giggles over. Grade 8 girls are painfully shy and quiet, whispering among themselves and gesturing to the tattoo on my inner forearm with smiles. The boys are rowdy, lively and excited to ask questions. We eventually finish the topic at hand and carry on into the many questions over Canada; eventually they have me singing the Canadian National Anthem and then of course bestow Nepal’s national anthem for my overjoyed ears. At one point our discussions were so lively a teacher from another classroom had come to ask the kids to settle down. We talk about the size of Canada, culture, animals, politics, distance and then we chart the similarities between our countries. Nepali children, are incredibly patriotic.
