- I don’t know how she did it, but somehow @gillsteele_ switched to beast mode and showed that 8 footer who was the boss, briefly anyway. 😉 I was just glad that I didn’t lose @langsfishingadventures’ rod. 😂 New episode “Double Trouble on the Fraser” is now available on our YouTube channel, please watch it! 🙂 #sturgeonfishing #whitesturgeon #fraserriver #fraserriverfishing #fraserriversturgeon #fishingbc #bcfishing #gofishbc #fishbc #fishingwithrod #wefishhere #highwatertackle #langsfishingadventures #thewaytofish #monsterfish #doubleheader #fishingbuddies #teamwork #explorebc #sharechilliwack #bigfishlittlepeople #doyoulift #musclepower #asiansensation #girlpower

- By now if you do some kind of recreational fishing in British Columbia, you must have heard about the predicted return numbers for this year’s Interior Fraser River steelhead, which are pretty dismal. The expected number of steelhead returning to the Thompson River is 145 fish, while Chilcotin River’s return is expected to be 45 fish. The number of fish spawning in the spring will most likely be even lower than that once overwintering mortality is taken into account. The Thompson River returns, just one decade ago, were still in the thousands. Lets pause for a minute and think about the rate of this decline. If an iconic species in British Columbia, take grizzly bear, or bald eagle for example, had a 50%+ decrease after one breeding cycle, imagine what the public outrage would be. The trouble with fish is that, they are in the water. You can’t see them and you don’t know how they’re doing. Once a fish species loses its commercial value, it no longer is a public interest. A handful of lucky steelhead anglers who have had the privilege to shake hands with these fish, have a sentimental connection with them and will be their advocates, but their voices are not enough to bring these populations back to what they used to be. The recovery of a species requires the support of ALL British Columbians, and this is where you come in. Now, I can’t sit here and tell you what a magnificent sportfish the Thompson River steelhead is or that we are saving them so future generations can enjoy catching them. Firstly, I’ve never fished for them so I wouldn’t know, and this is not about fishing anymore. The loss of a species is tragic, especially when it is preventable. The goal is no longer to save an iconic fish so some fishermen can feel the tug again. This is about saving genetically distinct populations of fish which cannot be replaced once they are gone. <continue reading in first comment> #steelhead #thompsonriver #steelheadfishing #fishingbc #bcfishing #fishingwithrod #extinction #britishcolumbia #conservation

- All smiles! 😁 Those who have fished around my dad over the years know that he’d let you know how ridiculously happy he is when a salmon is caught. It gets a little annoying, but my biggest pet peeve in fishing photos is actually when people don’t smile while holding up that prized catch. Every catch is special, so smile! 😀 Today we wrapped up his fall salmon season as he flew South to escape from the harsh Canadian winter. 😉 Overall, it has been another good one. Some coho salmon were caught, there hasn’t been a shortage of chum, and every outing has been a great experience accompanied by some fantastic people. How was yours? 🙂 #salmonfishing #chumsalmon #cohosalmon #dogsalmon #silversalmon #fishingbc #bcfishing #gofishbc #fishbc #fishingwithrod #wefishhere #thewaytofish #shimanokeepsyoufishing #explorebc #sharechilliwack #chilliwackriver #vedderriver #britishcolumbia

- Flashback Friday part two! 💫 As mentioned earlier, @kelownafishing, @kittykanhoffen and I attempted trout fishing at Shuswap Lake on a rather cold November day one year ago. The first fish we caught in this video was not too big but sure was scrappy and kept us running around in the boat. BTW, the first thing I noticed on Rod’s boat were these Shimano Michigan Handle spinning rods which have been discontinued. He didn’t just have one, he had several! I’ve been looking for these rods for awhile now with no success, because someone has bought them all... 😛 #troutfishing #rainbowtrout #trout #shuswaplake #fishingbc #bcfishing #gofishbc #fishbc #wefishhere #fishingwithrod #gibbsdelta #thewaytofish #shimanokeepsyoufishing #explorebc #lakefishing #britishcolumbia #fishingbuddies #fishingvideo #rodsquared

- Flashback Friday part one! 💫 A year ago, @kittykanhoffen and I checked out Shuswap Lake’s rainbow trout fishery with @kelownafishing. I still remember this trip quite vividly. The fishing was tough, the weather was cold and wet, but I still enjoyed it a lot! 💕 Learning a brand new lake, watching Rod’s routine, and sharing lots of laughter with the best company made it a pretty awesome trip. The gummies on the way home and MacD at 9pm in Kamloops were the highlights. 🍬🍔😆 We never got enough material for me to put together an episode, so I have all this unused footage which I still want to show you. This clip was at the beginning of the outing when Rod had just set up the rods and Kitty spotted a strike right away. Good times.... 👍 #troutfishing #rainbowtrout #shuswaplake #fishingbc #bcfishing #gofishbc #fishbc #rodsquared #fishingwithrod #wefishhere #thewaytofish #shimanokeepsyoufishing #gibbsdelta #fishingbuddies #explorebc #britishcolumbia #fishingvideo

- As the weather gets colder and days gets darker, we start thinking about ice fishing. What I really enjoy about ice fishing is actually not the fishing itself (probably because I rarely catch them 🤣), but taking in all that beauty from the white surroundings both day and night. A couple winters ago I spent the nights getting these shots at @tunkwalake. If you like both fishing and photography, I highly recommend this. 🎣📸 #icefishing #nightphotography #winterwonderland #fishingbc #bcfishing #gofishbc #fishbc #troutfishing #fishingwithrod #explorebc #pnwwonderland #pacificnorthwest #britishcolumbia #tunkwalake #winter #cozycabin #getoutside #wefishhere
